About this Sony BRAVIA KD-65X80J list
Header: Sony BRAVIA KD-65X80J (2021, platform BRAVIA_VH2, MediaTek MT5895), Google TV / Android 10 (SDK 29)
firmware BRAVIA_VH2_PA-user 10 QTG3.200305.006.S118 656601, India. 3 GB RAM, but only 4 GB for /data. Live TV / input app: com.sony.dtv.tvx (set it as live_tv_package and hide it in the launcher config; it also plays every HDMI input: HDMI 1-4 and AV show up in the Inputs menu). Stock launcher: com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx (pass it to restore.sh; build-and-install.sh finds it). Keep (TV needs them): com.sony.dtv.tvx, tvinput.*, braviasync* (HDMI-CEC), tvapi, sonysystemservice, settingsprovider, all com.mediatek.* and mtktvapi.agent, recapp (recordings), reminderservice, timers, remotecontrolsettings, irblaster/irbservice, com.uei.quicksetsdk.sony, imeproxy, webapi.core (Sony IP control), homenetwork (also holds network standby / power settings), the uid-1000 packages (ondservice, preinappfiltering, rs232csupport, browser.webappservice, android.tv.profile). Kept by choice here, safe to add if you don't use them: Google Assistant (katniss, tv.assistant, assistantadapter, voicesearch), Chromecast (apps.mediashell), phone remote (tv.remote.service*), Sony updates, Prime Video, Sony Media Player (smartmediaapp, osat.music), Alexa/Google Home control (seeds.iot*, seeds.auth), Ambient mode (apps.tv.dreamx), Living Decor (livingfit), Miracast service (mediatek.wfd). Already disabled at the factory or by the owner before this list: homekit, promos, vewd.core.integration.dia, Apple TV, kenhchonloc, youtube.tvmusic, b2b.softap, screnmirroring.com. Notes from this firmware: - Home: launcherx has priority 2 and the setup wizard's RecoveryActivity priority 1, so setupwraith is in this list (batch 6); with it disabled, build-and-install.sh set Home on the first try and it survives reboots. Re-enable it before a factory reset (restore.sh does). - /data is 4 GB and was 99% full with a handful of streaming apps: the first launcher install failed with "Requested internal only, but not enough space". `tools/tv.py 'pm trim-caches 1G'` freed ~450 MB. - `svc power reboot` is killed on this firmware; use `adb reboot` (and check `uptime`). - A key remapper (Button Mapper) was sending Home to another launcher; turn its accessibility service off. - The Sony tab on the Google TV home stays as a label after sonytab is disabled; it only goes with launcherx. - Applied in batches on one evening with reboots and checks after each (Home, Settings, inputs, Media Player, no crashes). Not yet lived with for weeks; if something breaks, `pm enable <package>` and please report it.
Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the Sony BRAVIA KD-65X80J debloat
Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:
export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/sony-kd-65x80j/debloat.txt Then build and install the clean launcher, which makes itself the default Home and rolls back if it fails:
TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 launcher/build-and-install.sh Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "Sony BRAVIA KD-65X80J" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.
Restore the Sony BRAVIA KD-65X80J
TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/sony-kd-65x80j/debloat.txt com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Google TV debloat guide.
