About this Sony BRAVIA BF1 list

Header: Sony BRAVIA BF1 (BRAVIA 2 II class, device BRAVIA_BF1_4K_A, MediaTek, 2.4 GB RAM, armeabi-v7a)

Android 12 (Google TV, API 31), firmware STT2.230811.001, security patch 2026-02-05 re-enables every package, so nothing needs undoing before one. Stock launcher: com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx (pass it to restore.sh, as above). Keep: Play Store and Play Services, Sony's update centre, the TV inputs and tuners (com.mediatek.dtv.tvinput.*, com.sony.dtv.tvinput.dvbtuner), com.sony.dtv.sonysystemservice, com.sony.dtv.smartui (the Input menu), Sony and Android settings, Dolby audio, AirPlay, Chromecast, Gboard. Quirks on this firmware: - A plain `reboot` can lose a disable: pm disable-user is saved a few seconds later. Wait ~30 s, then restart with `svc power reboot`. Check Home, Netflix, YouTube, Input and AirPlay after each group. - com.sony.dtv.applicationdisabler re-enables some packages at every boot (the IoT ones below, airplayapp, m2.devicecontrolservice). Leave them; disabling the disabler is not worth it. - Remote: Home sends KEYCODE_HOME. Input sends KEYCODE_TV_INPUT, which smartui opens system-wide, so INPUT_KEY_SERVICE isn't needed. OK never repeats while held, so long presses don't work. - `dumpsys meminfo` without `-t 90` times out on this set. The IP changed after most restarts: reserve one in the router. Applied group by group on 2026-10-19 (voice search kept). Stock vs after, ~15 min after boot: Home p90 frame time 31 -> 15 ms, janky frames 2.41% -> 0.07%, Home memory ~96 MB (with its helper) -> ~46 MB, MemAvailable 1.09 -> 1.14 GB.

Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the Sony BRAVIA BF1 debloat

Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:

export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50   # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/sony-bravia-bf1/debloat.txt

Then build and install the clean launcher, which makes itself the default Home and rolls back if it fails:

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 launcher/build-and-install.sh

Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "Sony BRAVIA BF1" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.

Restore the Sony BRAVIA BF1

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/sony-bravia-bf1/debloat.txt

The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Android debloat guide.

Sony BRAVIA BF1 debloat FAQ

Is it safe to debloat the Sony BRAVIA BF1?

The Sony BRAVIA BF1 list only uses pm disable-user, so nothing is uninstalled or flashed. Every package can be turned back on with the cleanyourtv restore script or from the TV's own Settings → Apps page. Apply it in small batches and check the TV between them.

How many packages does this Sony BRAVIA BF1 list disable?

11 packages, grouped as: tracking / ads / promos; shop demo mode; Not disableable (applicationdisabler turns them back on at boot): com.sony.dtv.m2.seeds.iot. Comment out any line you want to keep before running it.

Does the Sony BRAVIA BF1 list work on a similar model?

Often, if the platform matches. Compare the device codename and firmware in the list header with Settings → About on your TV. The cleanyourtv prompt also checks each package on your own set before touching it, so a near match is a good starting point.

Will the Sony BRAVIA BF1 get the Apple TV-style launcher?

Yes. After debloating, cleanyourtv builds its small native launcher (about 300 KB) and makes it the default Home, rolling back automatically if Home does not land on it.

How do I undo the Sony BRAVIA BF1 debloat?

Run TV_HOST=<tv ip> tools/restore.sh examples/sony-bravia-bf1/debloat.txt. It replays the record saved before the change. Full steps are in the restore guide.
