About this Philips R8G Google TV list

Header: Philips R8G Google TV (built by MOKA/TPV, device whitefield, Realtek RTD2851F), US

Google TV 14 (API 34), build UKRE.260524.058, security patch 2026-09-01. About 1.8 GB RAM, armeabi-v7a. ro.product.manufacturer=MOKA, ro.product.brand=PHILIPS, ro.product.model=R8G. Applied in small batches on 2026-10-19 with a screenshot after each, then a custom launcher installed and Home, Inputs (HDMI and Live TV) and YouTube playback checked the same day. Not yet lived with for days; if something breaks, re-enable it with `pm enable <package>` and please report it. Stock launcher: com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx (pass it to restore.sh / as STOCK_LAUNCHER). Home claimants: launcherx (priority 2), setupwraith RecoveryActivity (1), com.realtek.systemservice FallbackHome (-999), com.android.tv.settings FallbackHome (-1000). Live TV app: com.realtek.tv (TvActivity; set it as live_tv_package). HDMI and AV inputs are com.realtek.tv.passthrough, played by com.google.android.tv.inputplayer; ATSC tuner com.realtek.tv.atsc. Disabled from the factory, so not listed (restore.sh would turn them ON): com.android.tv, com.google.android.play.games. Quirks on this firmware, all checked on the TV: - Port 5555 was open after turning on USB debugging and Wireless debugging (service.adb.tcp.port=5555); no pairing code needed. tools/tv.py works directly. - Screenshots of HDMI and Live TV fail (protected layer, screencap exits 1); check `dumpsys activity activities | grep topResumedActivity` instead. - tv.anoki.acr.anokiacroptin is Anoki ACR (automatic content recognition of what is on screen). - com.seraphic.hbbtv.app is European HbbTV; US broadcasts are ATSC. Live TV and HDMI 1 still opened after disabling it. - The Wi-Fi network had been saved during first setup, so disabling setupwraith deleted it (see the warning at the bottom). The TV dropped off Wi-Fi, which also kills the Google Home phone remote; it took a USB keyboard to rejoin from Settings. Kept on purpose: com.realtek.tv, com.realtek.tv.passthrough, com.realtek.tv.atsc, com.realtek.tv.atv (Live TV and inputs), com.realtek.dtmb and com.realtek.tv.isdb (unused tuner inputs, left alone), com.realtek.systemservice, com.realtek.menu (input/source menu), com.google.android.tv.remote.service and com.google.android.tv.dfuservice (phone remote, remote firmware and find-my-remote), com.realtek.rtkvirtualkeyboard and com.google.android.inputmethod.latin (keyboards), Play Store, Play Services. Left alone because their purpose is unclear from their components: com.apps.factory.ui (factory/hotel menu with boot-time services), com.realtek.display.monitor, com.realtek.slices. Kept by owner's choice: com.google.android.apps.mediashell (Chromecast), com.realsil.ota (firmware updates), com.rtk.mediabrowser (USB media player), all streaming apps.

Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the Philips R8G Google TV debloat

Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:

export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50   # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/philips-r8g-google-tv/debloat.txt

Then build and install the clean launcher, which makes itself the default Home and rolls back if it fails:

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 launcher/build-and-install.sh

Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "Philips R8G Google TV" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.

Restore the Philips R8G Google TV

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/philips-r8g-google-tv/debloat.txt com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx

The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Google TV debloat guide.
