About this Hitachi 65QLEDSM20 list

Header: Hitachi 65QLEDSM20 (built by MTC, codename bangbae, MediaTek m7322), Android TV 11 (API 30)

firmware RTO8.250915.001 (built 2025-09-16), security patch 2025-07-01, 1.3 GB RAM, 1920x1080. Australian unit. Fingerprint: Hitachi/MTCMSD6886EU_Hitachi/bangbae:11/RTO8.250915.001/14107831:user/release-keys Content recognition and FAST channels come from Anoki (tv.anoki.acr.controller, com.cltv.fast), like the CHiQ / RCA / BenQ "AI PONT" sets on the same platform. Stock launcher: com.google.android.tvlauncher (the scripts' default); the only other HOME claimant is com.android.tv.settings, so the setup wizard does not take over. Live TV: com.mediatek.wwtv.tvcenter. TV inputs (com.mediatek.tvinput): HDMI 1-4 = HW4-HW7, AV = HW1 (composite), tuners = HW0, HW8. KEEP, even though the names look like bloat: - fusion.android.tv.demo ("MtcRetailDisplay"): handles the remote's Input button (TV_INPUT_BUTTON, CONNECT_INPUT) and Bluetooth remote pairing (mtc.bluetooth.AddAccessoryActivity). - com.google.android.leanbacklauncher.partnercustomizer: provides the tvlauncher.widget provider that com.mediatek.tv.service needs after a reboot (see examples/chiq-ai-pont). - com.mediatek.mtc.factory (GLOBAL_BUTTON and USB attach receivers), com.mediatek.testpq (applies picture settings at boot), com.mediatek.network, com.airoha.btd (Bluetooth chip), com.mediatek.*. - There is no separate firmware-update package on this build. Notes from this TV (all verified with screenshots and a reboot): - Stock adb on macOS fails with "No route to host" (Local Network privacy); tools/tv.py works. - After a reboot com.mediatek.tv.service logs "Failed to find provider info for tv.anoki.acr.controller.support" once or twice and carries on: same PID minutes later, no crash loop. Home stays the new launcher. - HDMI and Live TV screenshots fail (protected video layer). The Inputs menu switches through tvcenter's TurnkeyUiMainActivity; the Input key keeps opening tvcenter's InputsPanelActivity. - Free RAM after boot: about 590 MB (about 320 MB on the stock home before debloating).

Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the Hitachi 65QLEDSM20 debloat

Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:

export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50   # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/hitachi-65qledsm20/debloat.txt

Then build and install the clean launcher, which makes itself the default Home and rolls back if it fails:

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 launcher/build-and-install.sh

Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "Hitachi 65QLEDSM20" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.

Restore the Hitachi 65QLEDSM20

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/hitachi-65qledsm20/debloat.txt

The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Android TV debloat guide.

Does the Hitachi 65QLEDSM20 list work on a similar model?

Often, if the platform matches. Compare the device codename and firmware in the list header with Settings → About on your TV. The cleanyourtv prompt also checks each package on your own set before touching it, so a near match is a good starting point.

Will the Hitachi 65QLEDSM20 get the Apple TV-style launcher?
