About this BenQ E55-735 list

Header: BenQ E55-735 (55" 4K, Taiwan), Google TV 14, firmware UKNV.260506.001

Built by Changhong (ro.product.manufacturer=Changhong, ro.product.model="AI PONT", product DVB96BQ), MediaTek SoC, about 1.8 GB RAM. Changhong's own packages use the com.homwee prefix; the same "AI PONT" platform is sold as CHiQ (see the CHiQ DVB93CQ example in PR #10). Stock launcher: com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx (pass it as STOCK_LAUNCHER). Already disabled from the factory: com.mediatek.wwtv.tvcenter, com.google.android.marvin.talkback. Quirks on this firmware, all checked on the TV: - USB debugging alone does NOT open port 5555 until the first reboot. Pair once with Wireless debugging instead: `adb mdns services` shows the random pairing and connect ports, then `adb pair <ip>:<pairing port> <code>` and `adb connect <ip>:<connect port>`. After a reboot, with USB debugging still on, plain port 5555 answers. - Home keeps going to com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith/.RecoveryActivity after the stock launcher is disabled: setupwraith must be disabled too (listed below). - Standby is MediaTek suspend-to-RAM: once the CPU suspends (seconds after the screen goes off, when no wakelock is held), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi stop. A Chromecast voice remote (Bluetooth only) then cannot turn the TV on; the BenQ IR remote and the power button can. Holding a wakelock to prevent it confuses the vendor standby (panel off, system awake, ARC broken). Wake-on-LAN does work from deep standby: a magic packet to the Wi-Fi MAC brings the TV up in about 5 s. - The Chromecast remote's Input button sends KEYCODE_TV, which the stock launcher handled. Its YouTube and Netflix buttons have no key layout on this TV (HID usages 0x0c0077 / 0x0c0078 both arrive as KEYCODE_UNKNOWN), so they do nothing once the stock launcher is gone.

Before you run it: every package below is disabled, not uninstalled. Comment out (prefix with #) any line for an app you use. Never disable the Play Store, Play Services, the on-screen keyboard or the TV input services that play HDMI. Switch USB debugging off when you are done.

Apply the BenQ E55-735 debloat

Turn on Developer options on the TV (Settings → Device Preferences → About → press OK on Build seven times), switch on USB debugging and, if shown, Network or ADB debugging. Then, from a clone of the cleanyourtv repository on a computer on the same Wi-Fi:

export TV_HOST=192.168.1.50   # your TV's IP address
tools/venv/bin/python -I tools/tv.py --probe
tools/disable.sh examples/benq-e55-735/debloat.txt

Then build and install the clean launcher, which makes itself the default Home and rolls back if it fails:

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 launcher/build-and-install.sh

Prefer to let an assistant do it? Paste the cleanyourtv prompt into Claude Code with "BenQ E55-735" as the model; it reads this list, checks each package on your TV and asks before anything that depends on your preferences.

Restore the BenQ E55-735

TV_HOST=192.168.1.50 tools/restore.sh examples/benq-e55-735/debloat.txt com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx

The restore script replays the state recorded before the change, so Home goes back to the launcher that owned it. More in the restore guide and the Google TV debloat guide.

BenQ E55-735 debloat FAQ

Is it safe to debloat the BenQ E55-735?

The BenQ E55-735 list only uses pm disable-user, so nothing is uninstalled or flashed. Every package can be turned back on with the cleanyourtv restore script or from the TV's own Settings → Apps page. Apply it in small batches and check the TV between them.

How many packages does this BenQ E55-735 list disable?

11 packages, grouped as: Changhong / Homwee store and help; Automatic content recognition (reports what is on screen); Google TV recommendations and screensaver (set another screensaver first); Streaming apps not used in this home (by choice; keep the ones you use) and more. Comment out any line you want to keep before running it.

Does the BenQ E55-735 list work on a similar model?

Often, if the platform matches. Compare the device codename and firmware in the list header with Settings → About on your TV. The cleanyourtv prompt also checks each package on your own set before touching it, so a near match is a good starting point.

Will the BenQ E55-735 get the Apple TV-style launcher?

Yes. After debloating, cleanyourtv builds its small native launcher (about 300 KB) and makes it the default Home, rolling back automatically if Home does not land on it.

How do I undo the BenQ E55-735 debloat?

Run TV_HOST=<tv ip> tools/restore.sh examples/benq-e55-735/debloat.txt com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx. It replays the record saved before the change. Full steps are in the restore guide.
